Our first thanks of course go to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection who provided the Growing Greener Grant that made this project possible, and to our advisors there Eric Mosbacher and Gary Byron, who were helpful every step of the way, and Sharon Steinbacher, who helped with grant budgeting. Thanks also to to John B. Smith who wrote the proposal that began this interesting and educational journey.

We had many generous academic and professional advisors without whom we could not have produced this work including Dr. Carl Keener, Dr. Ann Rhoads, Dr. Denice Wardrop, Brian Auman, Barbara Andreas and Steve Grund.

We have drawn on the published work of many individuals including John B. Taft, Gerould S. Wilhelm, Douglas M. Ladd, Linda A. Masters, Barbara K. Andreas, Robert W. Lichvar; the work is theirs, any errors ours with apologies.

The committee which produced the C of C list for the Upper Penns Creek Watershed provided very important information based on many years of field experience: George Beatty, Dr. Carl Keener, Harry Henderson and Bob Gruver.

The staff and graduate students of the Cooperative Wetland Center at PSU were invaluable: Mary Easterling, Suzy Laubscher, Kristin Saacke-Blunt, Joe Bishop and expecially Jen Rubbo and Sarah Miller who answered many questions and shared their data interpretations with our project.

The speakers who presented programs and field trips for us also provided advice and help in many areas: Steve Grund, Brian Auman, James McGonigle, Calvin Ernst, Jean Fike, Ed Perry, and Mark Henry.

Members of the GGG committee included Bob Gruver, Steve Fast, Lucy Boyce and Maggie Harlan, with help from Jean Aron, Jackie Fast, Catherine Smith, John Smith, George Hildenbrandt, and our first and inspirational committee leader Darlene Weener.

Joe Isaac was tireless in the field, as was Debra Grim at the computer. Our web designer was much more than that – many thanks to Scott Tucker of felldesign.com.

Thanks to Dennis Genito and Tom Shervinskie for sharing their water quality data which was collected under another GGG grant through the Penns Valley Conservation Association.

Thanks to the photographers including Joel McNeal, Mary Paoli, Bob Gruver, and the NRCS photographers who allowed us to use their work.

And many thanks to the PNPS members and others who helped with inventories and other tasks including Helen Roback, Mary Paoli, Sally Mills, Warren Leitzel, Jessica McPherson, Scott Speedy, Martha Gallagher, Dana Harlan, Kirk Johnson, James Davidson, Amy Galloway and Andrew Beierle.

And last of all, my most sincere gratitude to Bob Gruver, volunteer, worker, list compiler, researcher, photographer, diplomat, friend, and without whom this project truly would not have been completed.

Sincerely,
Maggie Harlan, Project Coordinator
